Loomis, CA, was the name of the suburb of Sacramento which was earlier known by various names. So, formerly many names were considered for the suburb, which included Pino, Pine, Smithville, and Placer. Finally, it was named Loomis, CA. It is an incorporated town in California. The place has a shared border with Granite Bay, Penryn, and Rocklin. It is positioned at around 24 miles in the North-East of Sacramento.
As far as the history goes, Loomis, CA, which was formerly known as Placer inaugurated its post office resulting in the change in name to Smithville. This was again changed in 1869 to Pino and then finally in 1890 it was named Loomis, CA. The name was finalized to Loomis as the earlier name Pino was often confused with the similarly named town. The name Loomis, CA, was in the honor of James Loomis, who was the forerunner of the town. At one point, he was known to provide many services to the towns people. He was a postmaster, railroad agent, saloon keeper, and much more.
In the early 20th century, Loomis, CA, became a hub for its fruit-shipping. It attained the position of second-largest station in Placer County. Loomis was known for its fruit and vegetable annual events that were held at the Blue Goose Fruit Shed. But due to a bad fire incident majority of the business was wiped out of the town. However, after the destruction, the town was rebuilt with stronger materials like bricks, tile, and concrete. The agriculture and fruit-shipping market were regained by Loomis, CA, after reinstating the buildings of the town.
